The Nebraska law passed as LB 285 in 2009 causes homelessness, causes joblessness and encourages violence against Registered Citizens and their families.
Sex-offender registries protect no one and they harm many. Registry laws are based on the lie that sexual offenders have high reoffense rates. In reality, sexual offenders are the least likely to reoffend, but an industry has developed around registries and those who make money off of registrants perpetuate the lies.
How do we best communicate this information to the makers of public policy so that registry laws can be changed?
