The 5.3 percent number comes from a U.S. Department of Justice study. Individual state studies have found lower reoffense rates. In Nebraska, for instance, the University of Nebraska-Omaha found a year-to-year reoffense rate of less than 1 percent.

  1. Grrrrrr That 5.3% is wrong wrong wrong to begin with that's not re-convictions it's the percentage of rearrests secondly that study only looked at specific groups. Not everyone on the registry and thirdly, the last two years of the study. The reconviction rate was less than one half of 1% when referring to people on the a registry activists need to stop using both the 5.3% and the 3.5% , among other things, the study did not take into consideration all the people on probation and those states. Who did not reoffend http://sosen.org/blog/2015/07/07/destroyed-families-destroyed-lives-all-because-of-a-lie.htmlhttp://sosen.org/blog/2015/01/12/simple-question.htmlhttp://sosen.org/blog/2014/11/06/why-are-the-reconviction-rates-so-important.html
